The play guide
How to play Chess Master
ChessMaster uses Xiangqi, so western chess movement assumptions do not apply. The river, palace and the two generals constrain legal play. Check whether moving a shielding piece would expose your general before evaluating what that move captures.
Your goal
Win the selected Xiangqi game or solve its endgame position while keeping your general safe.
Controls
Click or tap a piece, then select a legal destination.
Your first round
- Choose a mode and inspect its rules, especially for hidden-piece variants.
- Tap a piece and select a legal destination.
- Check the opponent's threats and the line between the generals before committing to the next move.
This guide is based on the supplied game instructions.
Tips for your next attempt
- Check whether a move exposes your general before considering its attacking value.
- In an endgame position, identify the immediate threats before planning a longer sequence.
Watch out for
- The generals cannot face each other along an unobstructed line.
- A capture is not legal if it leaves your own general in check.
