The play guide
How to play Tetris:Drop Version
Tetris:Drop Version contains two related but distinct block puzzles. Drop mode asks you to fit falling pieces into complete horizontal lines before the stack reaches the top. Puzzle mode gives you shapes for an eight-by-eight board, clears horizontal or vertical lines, and ends when none of the offered shapes fits.
Your goal
Keep clearing lines while preserving room for the next pieces in the selected mode.
Controls
In Drop mode, swipe sideways to move, tap to rotate and swipe down to drop. In Puzzle mode, drag shapes from the tray onto the grid; those shapes cannot rotate.
Your first round
- Choose Drop Block or Puzzle Block.
- For Drop Block, move and rotate the falling piece to complete horizontal rows.
- For Puzzle Block, compare the fixed shapes and drag them into placements that complete rows or columns.
- Use each clear to preserve useful open space for later pieces.
This guide is based on the supplied game instructions.
Tips for your next attempt
- In Drop mode, watch for covered gaps that future falling pieces cannot easily fill.
- In Puzzle mode, compare all three offered shapes before placing the first.
- Keep the modes' rules separate: vertical clears and fixed orientations belong to the grid puzzle.
Watch out for
- Puzzle mode does not allow the rotations available in Drop mode.
- A placement that fills an awkward gap can still be poor if it leaves no space for another offered shape.
